When was JSSW started?
JSSW (Journal of School Social Work) was launched in the year 2004 (March to be precise) from the famous MADRAS SCHOOL OF SOCIAL WORK, Egmore, Chennai 600008.
The first official issue was released on June 2004 and from then on, no looking back. To day (8-Mar-2010) we are proud to say we have brought out the 70th issue (Volume VI Issue 10) with the focus Essentials of Health and Hygiene.
This is a national English monthly meant to network parents and teachers for the benefit of school students. Our ultimate aim is to employ as many SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKERS as possible in all the schools of India to make the lives of Indian school children happy and productive at school, home and the community.
What School Social Work aims at
Through SCHOOL SOCIAL WORK students can achieve maximum benefit from their learning environment by understanding themselves and others so as to improve interpersonal relationships and cope with stress and develop life skills.
Through SCHOOL SOCIAL WORK parents can participate effectively in their wards' education by understanding their socio-emotional needs and use the resources of the school and community effectively to organize programmes for the betterment of children and school.
Through SCHOOL SOCIAL WORK schools can understand the interplay of several factors such as social, cultural, economic and familial that affect the healthy utilization of the resources for promoting a safe, conducive and inclusive school environment.
Subscription: Rs 500 for 25 months. Rs 1000 for 50 months. Rs 2000 for 120 months and Rs 2400 for 180 months (15 years - Patron)
